Be specific as you try to identify the emotions you are experiencing. Need help identifying emotions? Seek out an emotions list or emotions wheel online and pick out words that resonate.
Locate it in your body (Where do I feel it?)
Emotions often manifest physically. Do a mental scan of your body to identify symptoms like a churning feeling in your stomach, neck pain, or hot flashes. This will help you be present with your body and begin to regulate you emotions.
Tell someone (Who can I tell?)
Choose a trusted friend, family member, or counselor to share your experience with. By acknowledging and discussing your experiences with anxiety and depression, you are better equipped to step outside of yourself and gain broader perspective.
